To use or not to use polygon?
Help · 15 Mar 2025, 00:17 · 1

Hello everyone.

I know it's a bit late to ask this, but I looked at the code from StarterNotebook_Lacuna and saw that the 'polygon' feature is not used. I didn't understand the idea behind 'polygon' since they are also not present in the test set, and because they gave some emphasis to 'polygon' in the description under 'Data' even though it is not used.

Hey there,

The polygon in the dataset represents the coordinates that define the shape of the object we are looking for (like a solar panel, boiler) in an image. Instead of just providing a bounding box, polygons offer a more precise way to outline irregular objects.
